Many people are doing (or going to do) business and realize they need a good site for that, but have no clue where to start from. As long as I’m a professional software developer, such people contact me often so I wrote a couple of articles in order to suggest right steps.
So what do you need for a website? Basically there are just three mandatory components:
1. Domain name
The domain name is much like a postal address or a plot of land. It will be used by people to remember your location and reach you. Depending on your needs and means you could build a very different building on this plot of virtual land. Which domain name is profitable and less expensive?.
Hosting is a server-for-hire service. You don’t need your own computer to be online 24/7, you can just purchase a hosting and run your site there. But which hosting is better for your load? Is your hosting is fast enough to serve all the customers? How to avoid of purchasing an overpriced one? Read here.
Content is the information your site is intend to spread. It could include texts, photos, audio, video and other documents like spreadsheets, presentations, etc.
After you decided on all the above, it’s time to select and deploy CMS.
